Bassist John Lester celebrates the 12 year anniversary of his album “Jazz?” tonight with his group Basso Trio at Jupiter. Released in October 2012, the album features covers of rock songs performed as straight ahead jazz. “Jazz?” made the JazzWeek top 100 charts with tunes by the likes of Counting Crows, Pink Floyd, and Pearl Jam being played alongside standards by the jazz greats on national radio. “His takes on rock and pop standards with great jazz sensibility and penchant for swing, make this a wonderful and fresh approach in the canon of improvised music. “- Jim Bennet, KCSM
