Making their Jup debut, long time collaborators, saxophonist Marcus Stephens and trumpeter Henry Hung have been making music together for two decades, performing and/ or recording with seminal groups such as Souls of Mischief, Tune-Yards, Myron and E, and Metallica’s Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo.  Emplifier draws influences spanning from lo fi Hip Hop to jazz to experimental art rock.  Incorporating the use of samplers, synthesizers, horn effects processing, their compositions weave improvisation and through composed melodies into music that expresses their exploratory spirit and musical kinship honed by the many years they have been playing music together. Tonight will feature special guest Jon Arkin on drums, synthesizer, and efx.
