Long-time booker for Jupiter and Drakes Brewing Alain Grissette aka DJ Delon takes an evening to look back on his 30 years of booking live bands and DJs as Jupiters’ primary music director since starting as door man while attending Cal back in 1993.  From the heady acid jazz days of the early 90s, pioneering the East Bay DJ scene with the legendary Beatdown Thursdays of the late 90’s/early 00’s, fighting with the City of Berkeley over sound levels in the 00’s, or dealing with the recent challenges of the Covid pandemic, Alain has seen his fair share in his run as a tastemaker in the East Bay and Bay Area music scene. As a veteran DJ with a stellar record, he fought the SF Bay Area electronica wars, and won, by founding the legendary Berkeley party Beatdown, an outdoor home for all of the competing sounds of the day (house, downtempo, drum ‘n bass, two-step garage) to come together under the stars. His current sound is an array of yacht soul, purple funk, nu-jazz, and custom edits. Come tip a few ales back and celebrate not only Alain, but Jupiters’ role as an iconic part of the East Bay music scene!
